I'm Sam Hutchinson, the independent designer, developer and digital consultant behind design|dylunio, based in North Wales.

With nearly 30 years of experience across design, branding, web development and digital strategy, I've worked with businesses, universities, creative agencies, arts organisations and charities — helping turn ideas into effective, engaging solutions.

My career has included roles as Head of Web at Clicky Media, Digital Director at Parker Design and Web Manager at the University of Chester, alongside seven years supporting Theatre Porto through creative development, marketing and communications.

Independent since 2019, I'm equally comfortable discussing technology with developers, design with creatives or strategy with leadership teams. I enjoy collaborating, solving problems and combining big-picture thinking with the practical skills to make things happen.

A little more about me...

Creativity doesn't stop at the screen. In 2004, I co-founded FUNKDUB, bringing international artists including Pharoahe Monch, The Dub Pistols, Craig Charles, Don Letts and DJ Nu-Mark to Chester. As resident DJ 3DJ, I've also played at events including Boomtown and the London International Ska Festival. Have a listen on Mixcloud.

In September 2026, I swapped the decks and desk for walking boots, completing almost 200 miles along Offa's Dyke Path, from Chepstow to Prestatyn, raising nearly £6,500 for Mind. Twelve challenging, memorable days that reinforced the importance of community, generosity and conversations around men's mental health.

Nearly three decades in, I'm still curious, still learning and always looking for the next creative challenge. Whether it's a website, a brand, a gig or something entirely unexpected, I enjoy making good things happen with good people.
